Beautiful Antique French Gold Wire Threadwork PanelWelcome to the château. Brimming with delicious vintage french shabby chic treasures. ~~~~~~. This stunning 19th century french panel would originally have been part of a vestement, banner or altar cloth. It is in wonderful condition for its age and the colours are simply stunning. The textile backing is a rich silk and gold wire thread weave that is backed with a fine linen as the last picture shows. The raised gold wire applique scrolls and curls and beautifully detailed with wire coil flowers and leaves. This amazing old panle would be superb for any period textile project and could be wonderful if framed. It would also be posssible to lift the wire applique to atatch to another fabric if required. The panel measures 13 by 13 and 1/2 (34cms x 34.5cms) at the deepest points and is in good strong condition with only the edges being frayed from storage.Fabulous antique french textiles from simply-chateau!
