Stunning Miniature Silver Prayer Book Bible 1904The book fo common prayer. With. Sterling silver front cover. By. Levi & salaman. Published by. Henry frowde, london. Undated, 1904. Beautiful little miniature book of common prayer published by henry frowde, london, with a beautiful detailed hallmarked solid sterling silver cover produced by levi & salaman silversmiths and assayed at the birmingham office in 1904. The hallmarked sterling silver cover of this tiny volume displays a charming design of five angels in clouds after joshua reyolds' heads of angels masterpiece. The detail of the design is very well executed and these details are further enhanced by the fact that the relief on this cover is superb and stands deeper than is often found in this design. The design displays a beautiful age worn patina. This particlar edition is a little unusual in that these silver prayer books were more commonly fuond published by eyre and spottiswoode.Not many copies published by rfowde are seen for sale. Hardback, leather boards with gilt letetring to spine. Solid sterling silver front coevr with design in relief. All page edges gilt. 688 pages, approx. Size 2.25 inches x 1.75 inches (5.8cm x 4.5cm). Black leather covers generally in good condition btu with a chip to top of spine. Gilt lettering to teh spine is bright with very little rubbing. The solid sterling silver si in good condition. The design is unworn with just a couple of very minor depresisons at the leading edge. The binding is sound, althuogh it is cracked between the title and contents page but all pages are firm. There are no inscriptiosn and all pages are present and in good condition. Unfortunately, due to recent experiences of buyers choosing not to pay for the recommended insurance but then expecting a refund for packages lost in the post, i do have to state that if insurance is not taken then a refund can not be given for items lost or damaged in transit.
